Say kia ora to Whaiora Online

Whaiora Online is an internationally recognised tool that validates the outcomes achieved by whanau that access your service.  This tool has the potential to revolutionise the data you collate to demonstrate the difference you make in the lives of people accessing your service.

Whaiora Online is a tool developed by He Waka Tapu that supports the collation of outcomes data, and connects whaiora (clients) to each other so that the power of community can be realised.

What is Whaiora Online?

Whaiora Online (WO) is a proven online social wellness tool.

WO focus is on the service user’s experience transitioning from treatment to supported independence to independence.    WO utilses much of the functionality of an online community, with the added benefit of visually tracking progress across health and wellbeing goals.

WO has responded to our ‘user experience’ focus to simultaneously be:

  • beautiful and functional
  • technically sophisticated and easy to use
  • monitored and moderated by a health provider and regulated by service users

At the backend of this tool we can colate the service users experience – ‘pursuit of wellness’, and ‘progress’ alongside the treatment data colated by professionals.  We know this will deliver multiple benefits to the key stakeholders as we look to better understand ‘attribution’ – what makes a difference, motivation – what is peculier to the whaiora, and responsiveness – how the support community responds to the needs of whaiora.

In simple terms;

  • Funders will like the improved ability to make the attribution link between intervention and outcomes.
  • Service users will like the focus on their experience and wellness goals, as oppossed to being a secondary consideration in the design logic and execution of clinician led data collection tools.
  • Providers will like the ability to be connectable as and when service users are most desirous of support or affirmation, knowing that support communities are as likely to contribute as service providers or clinicians.

We know that being able to track the wellness journey post discharge will appeal to all three stakeholders.

How do we know the tool works?

A 4+ year implementation of the tool with community of 700+ made up of Clients, Supporters and Professionals confirms that:

  • over 1300 goals have been chosen/supported,
  • 270,000+ entries on the tool have been made,
  • documented evidence of behaviour change,
  • quality of life improvements are recorded, and
  • support received at the time it is most needed by clients matters.

Is there a phone Application to support the online tool?

The WO app is available for download from the google play store further cementing the accessibility & ease of use for the client.

Are there planned upgrades

He Waka Tapu is constantly improving the user focus functionality of the tool.  Our approach is to follow up on customer feedback to improve the tool.

Tautoko plus resizedTautoko +

Tautoko + is an exciting new feature added to the tool that is a mixture of short videos and applicable activities that give whaiora insight into discovering new ways to approach areas of wellbeing, through the eyes of their peers and supporters.  This has a very NZ look and feel in a “pinterest” like style and again supports whaiora in their own journeys to wellbeing.  Going forward we plan to implement “geo-tags” to find health and wellbeing supports in your own neighbourhood – local and international flavour!

What value will this add to your organisation?

Organisations keen to understand the link between their interventions and impact on the quality of life of their clients will see the value as being self evident.

Equally, the transformational approach associated with client led and directed recovery will enable providers to colate the evidence previosuly not colatable.

Reporting and validation?

Reports can be generated on a quarterly or yearly basis depending on requirements.  Organisations have the abilty to customise reports to suit (*charges apply).  All clients are matched with their National health index number (NHI) giving the abilty to see in treatment data alongside client led outcomes data.
